Lake Ann - Dining

The small, but friendly village of Lake Ann is conveniently located just twenty minutes west of Traverse City and also twenty minutes directly east of Lake Michigan. A thriving lumbertown began on this beautiful lake in 1862 where both the town and the lake were named after the first settler's wife. A massive fire spread through the village in 1897 and the size of Lake Ann has never been the same since. The only building that survived is the Lake Ann Grocery where today the ambiance has everything from the store cat warming at the pot-bellied stove to John & Sandy's motto: "If we don't have it, you don't need it," that sums up their quintessential country store. The casual ride through town reveals only a few other village necessities that fill out the area such as a post office, townhall, bank, and café. It may be a small town today, but the clean, natural allure of the lake and the happy folks who live in Lake Ann ensure its popularity and respect throughout the region.
